Preparation & Aftercare
-
Skin Prep
• Exfoliate: The night before your session, gently exfoliate your skin to create a smooth canvas. Avoid using oily or heavily scented scrubs, as they can create a barrier on your skin.
• Shave or Remove Hair: For best results, please shave or remove hair from any areas that will be painted. Smooth skin helps the paint adhere evenly and enhances the overall look of the artwork. Aim to shave the night before to allow any potential irritation to settle.
• Moisturize Lightly: Use a non-oily moisturizer after exfoliating and shaving. Please avoid applying any lotion or oils on the day of your appointment, as these can prevent the paint from adhering properly.
-
Avoid Tanning & Sunburn
If possible, avoid tanning, sunburn, or any treatments that may irritate your skin at least a week before your session. Sunburns and fresh tans can be sensitive, which may make the painting process uncomfortable.
-
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your session. Well-hydrated skin is more receptive to body paint, and it helps you feel your best during the session.
-
What to Wear
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that’s easy to remove without smudging the paint. Dark colors are preferable, especially for when you’re leaving the session, as some pigments may transfer.
-
Bring Essentials
Consider bringing essentials like a water bottle, snacks, and any touch-up items your artist may recommend. A button-down shirt or robe is perfect for staying comfortable during breaks, and cozy socks can provide extra comfort if you'll be standing for long periods during the bodypainting process.
Aftercare Tips to Preserve Your Body Art
-
Be Gentle with Your Skin:
• Avoid rubbing or scratching the painted areas.
• Try to limit contact with rough surfaces, as the paint may wear off if rubbed.
-
Protect from Moisture:
Unless waterproof paint has been used, avoid contact with water, sweat, and humidity to prevent smudging. Rain and high humidity can also impact the longevity of your body art. -
Avoid Oil-Based Products:
Oil can break down body paint, so avoid applying any oil-based lotions, sprays, or perfumes near the painted area. -

Capture the Moment!
Body art is temporary, so be sure to take plenty of photos to remember your experience! High-quality images will preserve the memory long after the paint has been removed.
Bodypainting Removal Instructions
Removing bodypaint carefully ensures your skin stays healthy while removing all traces of your art. Follow these instructions based on the type of paint used:
1. Standard Waterbased Bodypaint (Not Waterproof):
For regular bodypaint, apply a gentle, oil-based makeup remover or coconut oil to the painted areas. Allow it to sit for a few minutes to soften the paint, then gently wipe it away with a soft cloth. Finish with a mild cleanser and a light moisturizer to refresh your skin.
2. Waterproof Bodypaint:
For waterproof bodypaint, apply Gillette Shaving Gel - Original (avoid sensitive skin formulas) to the painted areas. Leave it on for 5-10 minutes to break down the paint. Use a washcloth or loofah to gently scrub the paint away, repeating as necessary.
3. Face Paint Removal:
Water-Based Face Paint: Use micellar water or makeup removal wipes, gently cleansing the face to lift away the paint.
Waterproof Face Paint: For waterproof face paint, use micellar water or wipes designed for waterproof makeup. Apply carefully, wiping until all paint is removed.
